My friend introduced us to cooking those large mushroom caps on the bbq. Turn them upside down, take the stalk out, dab of butter, a lot of garlic and then a slice of cheese over the top. You just put them on the bbq to the side and let them cook slowly while you sort the rest of the stuff. And it's good for vegge's too if they will eat cheese.

I find that the charcoal on most people's BBQs is perfect to use just after the last food is 'cooked'.
Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

        Must try that one Feral!
A favourite of ours is thickly sliced closed cap mushrooms put in a tin foil parcel along with as much finely chopped garlic as you like plus a few dots of butter. Place it on the rack above the bbq whilst you cook other stuff, give it an occasional shake and you have some beautiful garlic mushrooms.

Omg I love to BBQ, any time the sun is out I'll have the BBQ going, sometimes don't even need the sun

OH bought some nice burgers from the butchers yesterday, and I thought these are too nice to not BBQ
So I cooked them on the BBQ in the rain, I have a charcoal kettle BBQ, bit like a webber but a bit cheaper
I even cook my pizzas in there on a pizza stone, they cook really fast and are so tasty, I'll have a pizza oven eventually, I'm already planning that

BBQ makes everything taste better, especially a BBQ with a lid

Best way to keep it clean I've found is to clean the grill whilst it is still warm
also if using charcoal get a starter chimney, there brilliant, 3 pieces of newspaper to light my charcoal, it never fails

Yes you have to be careful if you are new to cooking on a BBQ, trust me though I'm extremely fussy about that kind of thing, but I'd much rather have my food cooked in a BBQ above anything else

Knowing when foods cooked comes with experience, if your not 100% sure finish it off in the oven

Asda have a sale on BBQs at the moment. I wanted a small cheap gas one as the burners on our old one (left outside all the time) had almost burned through. We haven't tried it yet, but only cost £25.

We have a charcoal one, but that requires planning to use, whereas the gas is immediate, so we can decide to BBQ rather than grill at the last moment if we want.

The charcoal one is at least 28 years old, aluminium, and cost a relative fortune when we bought it. The grills are caste iron, and the only bit that is 'worn out' is the fire basket for the charcoal. I cooked the Christmas turkey on it one year, fire on one side, a drip tray under the bird on the other, with the lid closed of course. I used to put a chicken on once we had finished cooking the food for the day as well, and it would cook as the coals burnt themselves out. Wonderful served cold with salad.

Thanks for the replies. Nicos I think I will go for a weber one touch. I cooked Clifton spring chicken wings last night.........they were unbelievable! I think they might be even better on a BBQ!
