Help! I need boots.

What do you lot where on your feet?

This summer has given me a bit of a wake up call. I dig in wellies (now have a big hole in the sole) or ancient pretend workboots (ditto sole) or even old trainers (ditto sole) but tend to do everything else in flip flops.
In July I slid off the flip flops whilst watering and broke a toe and stretched a thingy in my ankle and its still not quite right.

I guess I really need to invest in a decent pair of boots so am after any recommendations. Wellies or lace up, short or long, leather, rubber....

Old walking boots for digging and clearing brambles; cheap pseudo-crocs for pottering around in the rain

Work boots most of the time with jeans - snake country here. Yes they can bite above the boot - but at least you feel you might survive in them. Blundstones (gone off shore now, the buggers) elastic sided boots so semi riding/work boots. Had mine nearly 9 years and the tops is still good, but have sprung some leaks in the sole now. The packing is pretty thick tho so I'm not buy new ones yet.....soon.

Occasionally I might risk going out in the plastic crocs to the clothes line.....but that's where most women see their tiger and brown snakes, so I don't do it often.

Upon a suggestion from TS I got something like these hiking shoes.

Personally I prefer lace ups and a shorter/lower shoe.


They've been doing a great job so far!

I bought my mum some of those welly shoes like Joules and Hunter sell. If you're lucky you can find them cheap in TK Maxx. They pull on, slip off. I have wellies but I get sweaty in them so am a bit naughty and garden in whatever is on my feet

I used to wear some decent hiking boots when on the plot, but storing them in a plastic bag in the boot of the car has caused some of the stitching to rot, so I now have a lovely pair of green wellies instead.

leather boots at this time of year, sandles in summer - but ones that fix on your feet - not the flip flop kind.

Thanks for your input - Its looking like leather boots of some sort.
I'm not going to use my walking boots as they cost an arm and a leg, but that kind of thing. Maybe I should think about steelies - MrPP wouldn't use anything else.

I got some steel capped boots a few years ago from Netto, (before they were ruined by asda).
They are fur lined, loose fitting (no laces) like wellies with a thick grippy sole.
Best fifteen quid i ever spent.

I had some Muck boots for Christmas last year and love them. I've got the 3/4 length ones, "Ribble" possibly. They are very easy to get on and off, don't get clammy like wellies and are lovely and warm.

I used to just use my old walking out shoes after buying a new pair,i did say used to,earlier in the year i treated myself to a pair if karrimor leather walking boots,i no see them as a treat,but a nesasery,they support the feet and ankles,which in turn help support the knees,my toes have more room,so comfort all round,the odd times i poped in the lottie with shoes on,and decided to do a bit,it was not nice,i felt like i was going over to one side,and that in turn upsets my old knees,

Stout leather hiking boots, with V!br@m soles. Lace-ups, which are a pain, but feel much more secure. RRP usually in excess of £160 a pair, so I buy 'worn for one week's holiday' types on eBay, usually for around £25 a pair. I am a cheapskate!

I wear Muck boot 'Tay' wellies, I like them, big chunky sole/heel, neoprene lining, good for the garden...and the beach in winter!
