  • Looking for a chipper/shredder

Has anyone please got any recommendations for an electric chipper (I know the petrol powered machines perform the best but are really expensive). It will be used for the smaller prunings as the larger stuff gets stored for kindling or stakes. I've been researching for ages and am going round in circles trying to decide which one to go for.

Do you have that many prunings to chop up? (I do mine, roughly, with secateurs)

I have loads and even though I utilise as much as I can, I still have had to reluctantly take many bags to the recycling centre... all that lovely mulch I'm also prone to carpel tunnel syndrome from previous over zealous pruning sessions in the past!

You've had no replies, so this is what's rated on Amaz0n: Amazon.co.uk: electric shredder - 4 Stars & Up / Shredders / Garden Tools & Equipment: Garden & Outdoors

I always check on there, then buy it cheaper on eBay

Thanks for the info Two Sheds - Have to admit the Bosch 2200 was one of my top choices and will probably go for this one. Most of the reviews were in favour, I just get put off by even a few bad ones.... I should have learned by now that there's just no pleasing all the people etc ...

            I've got one of these

            http://www.mowdirect.co.uk/the-handy...-shredder.html

It's not so good for chopping up soft stuff but great for twigs, branches. The soft stuff breaks down easily enough in the compost bin so this handles all the rest. It has a slowly rotating but powerful cutter which slices the material up into 1" pieces. It has an auto reverse to unjam it and is relatively quiet.

That might be like the one Terry on our site has. It made light work of stuff that another shredder we've used would have choked with.
It had a twisty screw thing that pulls stuff down which does the feeding and reverse I spose.

Yeah, I'm looking at home gyms: half the reviewers say it's a cow to put together, the other half say it's really simple & easy !

Thanks Mark, this sounds exactly what I'm after, and a reasonable price too.

I've had terrible RSI pains this year, esp in my elbows, with all the chop-chop-snipping I do for my chop n drop mulching.
