Nice thought. I've never been to Barnsdale but would like to go some time.

Martin I would strongly recommend this garden it covers fruit and veg. shrubs and flowers and of course it is also all organic which I dont do myself, but I got a sense of peace and tranquillity from walking round this garden and to me that made it one of the best gardens I have visited.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

I"m with you rary, regards Barnsdale. I have been a couple of times and hope to go again next year. Would like to go twice in the different seasons of spring and high summer to see the differences.

If you're thinking of going to Barnsdale sign up to their newsletter and you'll get a bit of discount both in the nursery and off a second visit.
          Location....East Midlands.

I'd second Hidcote, worth a visit.
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

Mothhawk both you and d.d.h.s.wife recommends Hidcote Manor, as I am stopping off at Worcester in July could you tell me if I would have to travel far to get to this garden?

rary, if you have google as a search engine, type in - distance from worcester to hidcote - it's quite clever and the top site will bring up the travelling time and a map. On the map will be a drop down list of directions.

Wait, I'll post the link - simpler all round

Just a note to say thanks to Mothhawk and the other members of the vine who recommended Hidcote. Went there while I was down that way and had a very good day, lots to see and plenty of colour in the gardens, all well maintained and a helpful and friendly guide to provide information
Again thanks to all who recommended this garden and also to every one who recommended their favorite garden to visit.
