  • Best organic veg growing book?

Any recommendations? I'll be buying 'blind' online (can't easily get upstairs to the gardening sections with a pushchair in either of our local bookshops!) so personal opinions would be a big help in choosing.

I have Bob Flowerdew's Organic Bible. It has a good section on fruit and also on veggies. I have to confess I haven't read it much yet as Dr Hessayon's Veg and Herb Expert has been most to hand lately I am sure more grapes will be along later and tell you about their favourite books.
    Happy Gardening,

Geoff Hamilton - Organic Gardening - lots about veg & fruit.

Mike Thurlow's - The Organic Kitchen Garden is useful and extremely aesthetically pleasing.

          Book Recommendation

          I use this one.... http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDRA-Encyclo...1151998&sr=8-1

It's called HDRA- Enclyclopedia of Organic Gardening (Henry Doubleday Research Ass)

It's quite fat, but full of good stuff. :-)

Thankyou, those look lovely - all now on my Amazon wishlist, except I can't find the Mike Thurlow one? Is it very new, or OOP perhaps?

I second Geoff Hamilton's book, don't know about the others, but Geoff's book is brilliant on the techniques, whys and wherefores, not so much detail on the actual varieties of veg but enough for me.

Lol! Let's just say if we're talking my entire Amazon wishlist, I'd be needing to buddy up to the Sultan of Brunei or the Duke of Westminster!

I've paid a visit to the library though and picked up quite a few, plus reserved a couple more. Oxfam Books also yielded a couple of good buys and I shall be keeping an eye out for good deals others!
