and then there was the TV programme on a few weeks back where you get a WORM on a plaster (given by hospitals, probably still testing on it) that enters your body and suppresses your immunity, so that you stop over reacting to pollen. Not for me thanks.
read this for Reflexology help at the bottom of it all http://www.greenpeople.co.uk/info_fe..._hayfever.aspx
Redbush tea/Rooibos tea and Chamomile tea can also help hayfever.

Dandelion and Burdock is an old remedy and works to some extent, there is an old theory also that if you eat honey made in your area, that it will cure your hayfever as long as you have a spoon a day. There is also a root, I forget the name of it, that you have to eat during the winter months - acts like the honey, building up a natural defense. Is it me or is it really bad this year? I know people who have never had hayfever coming down with it for the first time...pollen is biting back.

two sheds, are your symptoms more histemic or congestive?
(histemic is the itchy nose and watery eys and sneezes. congestive is the horrid pressure in and behind your nose and somtimes pain?)
the local honey thing does work on the histemic effects to some degree but you have to start taking two months prior to your symptoms presenting, as for anything stronger than over the counter remidies, fraid not but you do need to try them all,(they also only work on the histemic reactions) I use certirizine (brand name zirtec)
as for the congestion you need a corticosteroid nasal spray, you can get them over the counter but i would go to your G.P. and get nasonex, its one of the most effective and starts working from day one where as the over the counter ones you need to take for at least a week to get any effect, and dont worry about it being a steroid, it only works where its put so not available to other body systems.
there is also a course of injections, usually only given to people who are extreme cases works a bit like what vertangie was describing above, after the treatment no more heyfever for at least 5 years.
little things you can do, find out which pollen you have a reaction to and avoid it.
        wear sunglasses.
recirculate the air in your car while driving and keep windows closed.
take local honey two months before your symptoms apear.
        hope that helps.

          Hi 2S

Straight forward Piriton does it for me. I get the itchies and sneezes really bad and I find the Piriton does the trick within 10 mins or so.

Or you could try sucking the anal glands of a wiccan blessed mole once a day while standing on your head and visualising the inner workings of your now very dry nasal passages.

            hayfever/allergies

Hi Two Sheds have been reading these threads with interest as no-one seems to have mentioned 'Nasaleze'. Im lucky in not having suffered but i used to live next to a company who packaged the stuff in the Isle of Man! i think its on sale in Boots and was discovered as a by product of something else chemical. good luck in your passages! Eek! I have both histemic and congestive symptoms.... have actually been bad enough for me to be off work this month.

Of course, when you're full of hayfever, everyone has an answer

The best one I've had so far is an ex-police officer telling me that when he got CS-gassed in the face, his hayfever disappeared.... a bit drastic methinks!

I suffer badly from hayfever and in the end i went to the doctors.

I take Telfast tablets everyday (perscription only), Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray (perscription only) and over the counter eye drops. It keeps most of the symptoms at bay, but i do still suffer on bad days.

Next year i'm hoping to try Butterbur as i've heard that helps too.

Oh dear, so many suggestions...I've tried them all bar Heidi's prescription drugs and the CS gas!
I am histemic (thanks) and taking Cirtrizine and Cloratidine both together at the mo...still no relief. I am starting to think the anti-histamines are causing the trouble!
I can't avoid pollen...I need to be outside every day. I guess I will have to just get on with it and stock up on waterproof makeup
oh, BTW, Speckled Hen seems to help, if you have at least 2 pints of it

my hayfever makes me feel rundown, makes my already deaf ears more blocked,my throat red and gets me short of breath. Also if i dare touch my eyes i am in agony for the rest of the day but if i dont touch them im fine. Just takes a little will power. The doctor wanted to give me a nasal thingy but he mentioned the word steroids and i thought i am not snorting those!!!! so will be trying a few natural remedies for my hayfever thankyou very much doc!

why is it that your friend got no hayfever in South Africa but does in UK? is it maybe different types of pollen? different diet? all the sun? id love to know why?

or just remember to stock up on local honey to survive!!
