Fruit and Veg | Parkers Wholesale

Seemingly really good deals here so I'm hoping to buy lots of soft fruit plants from here for next year. Anyone used them?

I would buy bulbs from them, for which they have a good reputation, but I wouldn't buy any of their plants 'coz I've heard plenty of people moaning about the quality of what they received.

My pal and I bought some raspberry canes from them last year. Had to heel them in for a while before I could plant out properly and ended up with one out of a dozen. We bought through our allotments association and it was maybe a while between delivery and the time we were given the canes.

Compared to Garden Centre prices,they are ridiculously cheap

I know that Money is Money but I think it worth considering the "value" of the lifetime of the crop when considering the source / quality of fruit plants. Fruit plants should pay for themselves after a couple of years, and then many times over during their cropping lifetime.

I think important to get a variety that you like to eat, and that will do well in your area / soil / etc. perhaps even several varieties to spread the cropping season (or in the case of things like Apples to get suitable pollination partners, and the appropriate rootstock etc.)

If what you need is available "on sale" then great, if not then worth considering not compromising on flavour/variety-choice & quality of the plants etc.
