Walking around my local Tesco today I saw they had pretty sturdy looking stainless steel forks and spades(man-size and border size) for around eight quid each. Looked good value to me .

I treated myself to a stainless steel fork and spade set a couple of years ago. Dearer than Tesco, but worth their weight in gold - they are a pleasure to use. I've seen the Tesco ones, and may get myself a spare set to leave on the lottie. Last year at the end of summer they were selling them off at £3 each, I could kick myself for not buying then.

I was browsing and someone said Wilko's were having a half price sale, got s.s. spade, fork, etc for no more than £4. each. So, I have now replaced stolen tools but not left them at the plot yet. Really do need to make a shed.!Last edited by pigletwillie; 24-07-2007, 11:20 PM.Derbyshire born Derbyshire bred & I'm not thick int'arm ort'ead!

Unless you grow on really heavy sticky ground, I've never seen the need for a stainless steel fork. Spade yes, with you on that one, but fork has a different purpose in life.Rat
