  • Stainless steel spades

Walking around my local Tesco today I saw they had pretty sturdy looking stainless steel forks and spades(man-size and border size) for around eight quid each. Looked good value to me .

I do like my stainless steel fork and spade. I much rather use it that any other. Good price. Shall take a look as could always do with a spare.

I treated myself to a stainless steel fork and spade set a couple of years ago. Dearer than Tesco, but worth their weight in gold - they are a pleasure to use. I've seen the Tesco ones, and may get myself a spare set to leave on the lottie. Last year at the end of summer they were selling them off at £3 each, I could kick myself for not buying then.

I bought my stainless steel spade from Wilkinsons. It is brilliant and has a wooden handle so if it breaks I can replace it. It was about 8 quid too. This year I might just treat myself to a stainless steel fork to go with it.

Bought new SS spade from B&Q last year it has fibreglass handle.
the old spae handle snapped easier to buy naw spade The old one was over 50 years old (was my fathers) as was my fork that handle broke a few weeks later.
My shears which are in almost daily use are nearly 55 years old.

I was browsing and someone said Wilko's were having a half price sale, got s.s. spade, fork, etc for no more than £4. each. So, I have now replaced stolen tools but not left them at the plot yet. Really do need to make a shed.!

Unless you grow on really heavy sticky ground, I've never seen the need for a stainless steel fork. Spade yes, with you on that one, but fork has a different purpose in life.
