Takes up less space in a box / barrow full of tools when out in the garden ... but the non folding ones come in a scabbard, which can be worn on a belt, so if doing a lot of pruning I think it would just be down to personal preference (and how "rigid" the folding joint was when sawing a branch vigorously).
For me, I'm more interest in how sharp they are and how well they cut - its time & energy pruning, and I want a saw that cuts like a knife through butter. But the "good ones" are perhaps expensive for anyone just wanting to trim a couple of branches ...
There are YouTube videos of people cutting significant branches, rapidly enough , with pruning saws, and viewing some of those influenced my decision on "brand / model".
