Soaker hoses

Apparently I need a new watering system for my garden (other half's been thinking, it's never good when he does that )
So does anyone use soaker hoses? How do you get on with them? I'm not convinced that walking round with a hose pipe isn't easier. But it does bug me when it gets kinks in it and when you don't notice your dragging it across a bit of the bed flattening plants as you go.
So pros and cons of soaker hoses please.
Any advice welcome and a bit quick please! He turned up with a water butt this afternoon ( to use as a water tank so when hoses are on no pressure is lost in the house or garden if another tap is turned on)

Walking round with a hose pipe involves walking round! You could get a timer for the hose waterbutt connection too? I use a watering can but my gardens not very big.

They work a treat on thirsty stuff like beans & cucurbits, on a timer & buried under an inch or two of mulch is the way to go

Ive got one in my GH for my toms...brilliant! I haven't managed the diy for a timer but I just hook it up to my hose pipe and carry on with other jobs. I hated flattening all my plants dragging it in the GH too.
