Without cutting my nose off to spite my face.............this could have happened because of the micro climate created by covering with any colour mesh?

Thats why i need to 'borrow' Jay-el's blue mesh and set up a trial with green mesh which I already 'borrowed' off another plot holder! *Wonders whether I can scrounge some red mesh off someone else?*

Who needs flowers for colour when you can cover the plot with coloured netting!

I had thought the same thing but thought that

1. getting red, green, blue, white, black and yellow nets would be a tad expensive
2. as most of the colours are only in 50m length, 300 meters of 3 meters wide would be more than enough to cover both plots - paths and all.
3. 6 beds of the same brassicas would be way too for me.

But red, blue and green side by side would be worth a try - not got any red netting though.

I was looking at my cherry tree today and thinking about how to put a fruit cage over the orchard. I was also thinking about using red netting to see if that would help the fruiting.

Debri netting is usually used to protect brassicas and carrots from predadtion. Theoretically any type of shading in this country is non-beneficial as far as excluding light.
This other research has been done for shading of fruit in hotter climes. I think brassicas may benefit from blue and soft fruit possibly from red, as long as there was room for pollinating insects on the sides?
Like Jay-ell I don't want to grow loads of brassicas so small beds covered with different colours would be ideal and add interest to the plot..
