As titlle says,i have been with age concern car insurance, had other half knocked off,and came in at 345.73,fully comp with the usual extras,am well pleased, rang sain bugs yesterday as per recomendations, and coughed,5??.?? for the same cover,so i strongly recomend age to those that come under the wings, plus,if needed, you have the option to pay monthly at no extra charge, only if you want to.it's a good saving

I've been using Money Saving Expert's guide since the world was young. I'm prepared to spend a day on it, not because of any racial stereotypicality but because I fervently want to avoid paying one penny more than I absolutely have to to the thieving magpies that they are (feeling better already). I go through the steps recommended in the guide, then compare each price short-listed company's package. Finally, I contact them by phone and try to talk to a human being. If this is possible, I haggle like fury. This year we're using Admiral Multi-car. But no matter what you do it's a huge rip-off, I do believe.

I use comparethemarket every year plus you get a free meerkat which this year I donated to my friend back in Leeds as he is a big star wars fan...............sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

I was looking for my mum who is in her early 80s the other week and strangely found that the specific older people ones were coming in higher then the more general ones. Mind you they all cost a fortune per mile as she hardly drives really.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

When I've been shopping around for insurance, and tried to reduce the quote by lowering the number of miles I do a year, I was told that low mileage drivers are assessed as a greater risk than those who do more miles a year. The quote for 7000 miles was the same as for 4000.
I'm with the bulldog.

Your location (Postcode), annual mileage, Named Drivers, where you store the car (private drive/on street/locked garage), Amount of voluntery excess above the insured minimum etc. all play a part in the cost of insurance. Remember that cheap insurance is cheap for a reason, once you need a hire car or make a claim that cheapness might prove very expensive. That said I recommend shopping about every year because there is no loyalty from insurance companies. This year I didn't pick the cheapest but I knew why it wasn't the cheapest. Depending on your circumstances the NFU might suit. They are the underwriters and insurers all rolled into one and tend to get good reviews on claims.

I take the view. buy a banger. Insure 3rd party fire and theft. If they don't have a prang, after 2,3 years upgrade to fully comp. If they do crash, they saved a fortune on not having posh car to start with.
I mean an Escort or a Golf or something, not a rust bucket. Not a micra or a 123.
For some of the quotes, you can go down sales room and buy a banger and insure

When my son got a car, I told him to insure third party only to save money. Guess what? The cheapest third party insurance quote was actually more expensive than fully comp. Go figure.
So make sure you shop around and ask all the questions when getting insurance. They just want as much of your money as they can get.
