  • Resurrecting a disused greenhouse

This is my first post .My daughter moved into a house about 3 years ago & the garden has an Alton 16 x 10 wooden greenhouse.Due to the house being unoccupied/& tenants who didn't do gardening the greenhouse went to ruin. My daughter said that it was being knocked down but so far it is still standing. I announced that I was going to use it this year as I was fed up seeing it go to waste. Three of the large roof panes of glass had been left to slide out of the runners & smash on the ground before she bought the house.
I have made temporary repairs by covering the holes left by the missing glass with heavy duty polythene sheet from Screwfix.Along with a friend we have stretched the polythene & stapled it to the wooden frame. We then cut timber battens to fit over the frames & screwed them on to secure the polythene.
This has all been done in a rush as I only made the decision a couple of weeks ago.I have cleaned the glass & did a quick cover up of the wooden staging with Fence Paint. I now have 3 Growbags with various tomatoes-Red Cherry-Dwarf Bush-Alicante. Also a Growbag with a cucumber & courgette.I also brought container troughs from the back wall of my shed at home with 3 types of Strawberries. I planted a trough today with radish & spring onions so here's hoping for some success for my efforts.

Excelleny. GHood luck with the growing. There's loads of stuff on here about growing in greenhouses especially the View from The Greenhouse/Polytunnel Door thread where grapes post their photos. After 10 posts you'll be able to upload your photos as well.
