      Absolutely Zoe - it's partly freshness - try leaving one in the fridge for a week, and you'll see the difference. Do bear in mind the slugs and the birds/squirrels/badgers/elephants (as applicable).

      There is also strawberry gin

      Also, have you started a compost heap? All uncooked kitchen peelings, grass clippings, weeds (except for invasive ones like bindweed and marestail) can go in now to start brewing.

          We were prepared for that- I made some signs and decoration out of pallets for a family wedding recently. Pallets came back and got constructed into the compost bin. It's also still got the order of service on it, so nobody will forget when the first dance was. (Or supposed to have been, they took some persuading to dance on time as they were busy socialising. I know this because I was on photo duty..)
