  • Hi everyone - new veg gardener on the block

Hi all - got my mitts on a cracking new garden, only grown flowers/ shrubs/ trees and a few tomato plants before as didn't have room for veggies.

Earmarked an area about 50ft x 15ft for the kitchen garden to go - it's quite sunny and close to the house. It's South Easterly facing and protected by a hedge along the North Western side.

Planning on about 4/5 raised beds this year to get started and also some spuds in the ground.

Hoping to get an 8x6 greenhouse up in the next few weeks too so there'll be no stopping me with the seedlings

I want to grow loads of things, been out already and got about 30 packets of seeds! I know I should learn to walk before running but I've never been very sensible!

Anyway - have been getting lots off good tips already, any advice for a completely impatient gardener greatfully recieved!
    Thanks
Grown the toms and herbs in greenhouse before but starting off a 50ft x 15ft veggie/fruit area in 2008

We are in South Wales, about 7 miles from the sea.

Garden is 3/4 of an ace altogether, I can see the veggie area expanding over the coming years!

My tip would be to choose all the lovely fruit you want to grow and plant trees first as they can take a few years to give a good crop (although plums, gages and mulberries will be fruiting away pretty quick).

Are you going to keep chooks?

Always fancied a mulberry after tasting some fruits many years ago! I've been put off buying a plant because I thought I would have to wait may years for it to fruit!

If they fruit fairly quickly and can be kept in trim I may be tempted to have a go!
