  • Hello newbies!!!!

Hello new Grapes - where are you all?

Come and tell us all about your vegetable desires for the new season. Me I can't get enough aubergines!

Although I also have a penchant for tomatoes and peppers.....

Oh Newbie-do, oh where are you ?

What a good idea to have a new section for newbie introduction (fairly standard in other forum btw) so that New Shoot section is freed up for GYO queries only from newbie.

Just thought I would introduce myself.
First year of growing vegetables was last year. I had not registered with this forum then but read everyones posts anyway and gained lots of knowledge, so thank you to you all.
I only have a small patch for growing veg in the back garden (16ft x 8 ft) but its only to feed two of us.
I'm 35 years old and getting married this year.......also in the back garden!
Have my potatoes chitting, peas, beans, tomatoes and cucumbers all growing in their home made paper pots!
I live in Falkirk near Stirling and we have had snow today so don't know when I will get any veg sown outside!

              I'M NEW!!!!!!

I live in Aveyron, south west France, with my lovely husband, 3 bad children and a crazed hormonal dog. I tried a small veg patch last year after we moved here but the land I chose was dreadful and everything went in far tooooo late and the end result was a tender feast for the slugs and mice and nothing for my starving family... This year I have cleared a huge area - where all the locals say the soil is good and have high (if not ambitious) hopes. I have just brought home half a ton of sheep manure and must get shovelling!!! I have found loads of useful advice here and will come back with every question - eventually I may even be able to answer a few!!??

Hi tootles, lucky you living in Aveyron, come back with pictures as well as questions please? Oh and put a pin in the Grapes map - you'll find a link to it in the Chitchat thread (at the top).

Good luck with the veggies this year.

                    Hello All,
I've got three adjacent plots on a small site with 20 plots. I've been doing allotment gardening for about ten years now (got my additional plots when no-one wnated one a few years ago - now there's a waiting list!). I like to grow large quantities of certain things (25 courgette plants last year!) and I'm known as the leaf man in the autumn 'cos I go around with my estate car and several empty bulk bags looking for piles of leaves..
I 'm offshore Angola right now and came across this, and sevearal other, websites relating to GYO one lonely night shift and I must say, you never stop learning!
Great stuff, keep up the good work!
