Hello from Wales and proud owner of 100ft garden

I have recently moved into an old style semi with a massive 100ft garden and soil that everybody tells me they would die for!
I vaguely remember my dad saying something similar and growing tons of veg.
Divorced and determined not to throw myself into the job , i have just paid for the garden to be rotovated vegetable garden mapped out and the borders for the veg are to be completed next week. I have a greenhouse that needs to be rescued with no staging or anything but solid enough

I am now terrified - I have a large sea of dirt which is very brown and barren and a house full of gardening books that looks really impressive. |I have stage fright only in the garden.

bought this magazine cause it had free seed packets!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone has been where i am now and can reassure me that the plan for the beds is logicall and that i can grow things please reply.
If you live anywhere near Cardiff on teh 4 corridor and want to be a gardening buddy it would make my day

Hi VS, welcome to the band of hopefulls. We're all hopefull that there will be enough good weather this comming summer to grow decent crops. Any change from last year has got to be an improvement. You've still got loads of time yet to plan where everything is going to go and it's still pretty early to sow most seeds unless you can get some heat and insulation in your greenhouse. You can use the cold weather to read your gardening books and chat about gardening on here.

I am in South Wales too and hoping for less rain this year! Also am envious of your soil situation as mine is terrible

It is certainly a rewarding pastime and you will get hooked! I have only had moderate success so far, but that ain't put me off. Planning on planting loads this year.

Hi VS and welcome to the Vine.
It's early enough yet to be planting seeds so use the time to map out what you want to plant and where you want it. Also look at the instructions on your seed packets and be guided by these as to when to sow.
As for your greenhouse, give it a good clean inside and out, and look at getting staging of some sort - anything from an old garden table to a bespoke potting bench will do the job.
Let us know what your plan for the beds is and we should be able to assist you more should you need it. But above all, don't be afraid to ask. Everyone has to start somewhere - I wish the forum had been around 20years ago !!

Hello and welcome to the vine. I also have lovely soil that my one gardening visitor says is to die for. Unusual here as the local soil is red so I have no idea where mine came from.

Welcome to the vine Victoria Garden, you do have lot's of space which means lots of varieties to experiment with, lucky you . Have fun with your growing plan.
