  • Another Newbie to be converted!

    Hi All,

Im Liz married to Neil , and we have a brood of four children. We started going eco-friendly when I decided to use re-usable nappies on my youngest son (8months old). Since then we have had our garden sorted and even invested in a composter!! We are now looking to fill our borders, which i made purposfully big when we had the garden done, so that we could use them for growing veg etc. Havent got a clue where to start (and im the daughter of a horticulturist (sp)) so am looking forward to gleaning some good advice hence joining the forum.

    Sorry for the essay.
Look forward to chatting to you all soon

    Liz

Thanks for the welcome Shirley, not the sure the eldest 3 children will be much into it being 11, 9 and 7, but our 8 month old wont have a choice!!!!

You might be surprised, get the older ones to help choose what you are going to grow - a veg each or something. My eldest (17) had a go with melons last year and wants to try again this year, youngest son (12) grows dwarf beans and loves helping harvest the carrots and cucumbers.
        Happy Gardening,
        Shirley

Hello Geniusdrip, soon your borders won't be enough and your lawn will be next to go, bit by bit, I know, it's happening in my garden as I type.

We laid a lawn after being in our house two years, then made the mistake of letting the dog on it!!

Now we have a massive pond (his) with koi (his again) and shingle (his idea). I plan to put hanging baskets and troughs all round the fence.

Welcome to the vine, you'll soon find yourself among friends here.

Boo is pretty clever I grant you , but no. The pond etc was Steve's idea.
