I have just discovered this site while trying to find out what i should be doing with the allotment patch i have just taken on. Any ideas for keeping it nice and simple would be very much appreciated

welcome muddy, youll get lots of great advice- you could try using the search facilityand looking at the blogs. Idont have allotment, but was thinking about my current veg garden (sitting in shed and pondering this years tasks).Year 1 cleared brambles, put down black plastic on some, put potatoes in one section started compost heap 1. Year 2 cleared another section grew pots, beans, sweetcorn, lettuce tackled old apple trees. Started compost dalek2. Year 3 cleared rest of plot made raised beds, grew all of above + strawberries, raspberries, goosberries, courgettes, squash, peas- put up 2nd hand shed. now in year 4 only 1 section still to go (neglected last year due to weather- just re plasticed it and will clear soon). have fun and take it at your own pace and grow what you like to eat.
