  • Another French Froggie

    Hello all
We live in the Creuse, France and have just under 1 acre which I run as a small holding with hens, geese, ducks, goats, cats, dogs and ferrets (plus the odd rat or 2).
The "orchard" is dying so will need replacing in the next few years, but at the moment I'm concentrating on sorting out my veggie patch. The last few years have been a disaster growing wise, what with all them birds around. Each year I promise myself it will be better this time.
I'm experimenting with growing spuds in straw. Last year the few that the birds left were wonderful, so I'm trying again this year. In this region of France we suffer a lot from Colorado Beetle, but didn't have any last year. Maybe the straw helped.
Today M.O.H. and I have transplanted the Raspberry canes and Strawberries. I know. The wrong time of year, but past events meant I wasn't able to do it at the proper time.

Well, I think I've bored you all enough so I'll say T.T.F.N and hope to join you again soon

    Bon soir Lame.

Stick a pin in our map - help les other froggies locate ya.

The more and more people that post about their life in France, the more and more it sounds appealing.

    One day Rodney, one day.

    Welcome aboard le Grapevine.

Hello Lame veg and a very warm welcome to ther Vine. We are just over the border in the Auvergne and we suffer from Colarado beetle too I am very interested in your straw idea.

We have just over an acre but nothing like the wildlife that you have. We do have a bit of an orchard with the usual trees in. Let us know how you get on and do put a pin in the Grapevine map so that we can locate you.
