  • Dirty hands for a soap maker.

    Hello from Sawbridgeworth in Herts

I've spent the day planting calendula seeds at the allotment in the hopes that I will have enough petals in six to eight weeks to make soap with them as I have nearly run out of last years supply (too wet a summer for a good crop).

Although I grow all types of veg and fruit on the quite sizeable plot, I tend to grow mostly medicinal herbs and flowers to add to my soap creations.

So after leaving the plot today and going into the local health food store (where my soap is stocked) with soil stained hands, the owner looked at me and said I was not a good advert for my product.

I could use a fresh water source and basin at the allotment. That is my next project.

Welcome GR, I enjoy making soap too, espec. with ingredients harvested from the plot; favourite blend at the moment is comfrey and chamomile.

Welcome to the vine GR. I'm planning on making my own soap soon, just starting to collect together the ingredients. I didn't know you could put petals and the like in it though. I think I'll stick with bog-standard stuff for the moment, but will bear it in mind when I become a little more adventurous.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Hello and welcome to the vine Grass Routes ! Oh soap making, I made some couple of years ago (cinnamon, star anise, sage and chocolate flavor) but because I am very allergic to the lye's fume, haven't been able to make anymore.
My dream is to make the red rose petals soap...one day !
          I grow, I pick, I eat ...

            Hello Grass routes

            Welcome to the Vine.

Soap making sounds interesting. What are the main ingredients you use?
Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.
