  • Hi from Bedfordshire

Just thought I'd stop in and say hello and introduce myself.

I'm Lucy, I'm 25 and a freelance writer. I live and work from my own self-proclaimed Smallest Smallholding, where my veg plots, ex-bat hens, troop of cats and soon to inherit two bunnies (strictly as pets though!) can be found. I love wildlife gardening and am a release site for Bedfordshire Wildlife Rescue's rehabilitated hedgehogs! I also took on an allotment earlier on this year, which is taking shape nicely.

Current projects going on here are the creation a mini woodland area (close to veg plots to encourage pest-munching wildlife), an ericaceous bed for my bargain blueberry bushes (love rummaging around on the reduced shelves at garden centres) and a bespoke composting system!

Hallo Lucy, Welcome to the 'vine. Another wildlife gardening fanatic here, (and writer, strangely enough). I can't quite reconcile your troop of cats with wildlife gardening, though. Very attractive creature, I admit, but certainly not wildlife-friendly!

      Hello from Bedfordshire too.

Welcome aboard - sounds like you're pretty well knowledged in the ways of greenfingered-ness.

      Ain 't Bedfordshire great?

Ahhh, Harlington is only a few mins away from me.

Bedfordshire has it's merits, but it's not near enough to the coast for my liking!

Wildlife gardening and cats work fine together, because the cats are just too lazy to do any damage. With a bit of thought and foresight, things like siting bird tables aren't problems

Well if you're ever passing through - our allotments are right next door to Chiltern Aquatics. I'm easy to spot - I'm the lanky eedjit who will look as if he doesn't know what he's doing.

                      Bedforshire fans

Sorry to rain on your parade but I'm also from the budget airline town (or is it officially a city) but couldn't wait to get out. Move up north to the cold and green pleasant lands and only 2 miles from the seaside.
My family still live there though so pass through often. Maybe I'll pop in some time just to say hi
