  • Hello Grapeviners

Hi everyone, just joined your grapevine this morning after reading grow your own mag. I have a 6x8ft greenhouse which I have just had to reglaze (ouch) but it is already brimming with pricked out seedlings from my windowsills which I sowed only a few weeks ago.
I am an avid gardener and very fortunately I have a very large garden I am just approaching the bottom quarter which I am now turning into a kitchen garden with 8x4 boxes. I would love to become self sufficient in growing fruit & veg and have dabbled in the past but I very much want to be commited,(to growing that is! lol) I am also contemplating getting a few chickens in the future. Look forward to communicating with anyone who is interested and for any advice.
I want to prepare the soil in one of my boxes for onion sets and shallots I have acid soil ph6-7 do I need to add anything taking into consideration I want to be completely organic!!!!!

Hi ceflet and welcome to the grapevine. Sounds like you've got the job in hand there! As to the onions, I think they'll do ok. I would lime for cabbages with an acid soil though. Good luck!
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
