  • Hi Ho Silver !!!

    Howdy Folks ,

I`ve just arrived on the allotment scene and have been fortunate enough to be allocated a heavily overgrown plot here in the wilds of Cardiff .
I`m already hugely impressed with how welcoming all the allotmenteers are , particularly how some of them have placed all their unwanted material , old wheelbarrows ,etc. onto this plot if the hope , I suppose , that anyone inheriting the plot may find it useful ! It`s also a little strange how all the useful bits and pieces seem to have vanished from the plot . Hmmm!
Still , a couple of trips to the local dump soon cleared that . Now I`m discovering the `joys` of removing couch grass and old carpets ( how difficult is that!! ) and how it is helping me to rediscover muscles that I thought I had lost forever .
After deciding where to start first , I began with something competely different !
Well , where do you start !! Some old guy said , " just pick a spot and work out from there" , so that`s what I`m doing .

Well , I`m off to the plot for a bit of digging and a lot of sitting down pondering the wonder of it all !!

Hi Loam Arranger - now you've got stuck in the fun starts! Don't try and dig it all in one go - stop every now and then and plant stuff after all, that's the point of allotment gardening. Also, when the muscles twinge - count out a few £20 notes - they are what you've saved in gym membership.

Keep in tough and let us know what you're planting.
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
