Hello from Devon!!

Hello to you all from a very damp Devon, I am absolutely obsessed with my garden and have been planting all sorts of lovely plants....... any ideas of a climber I can grow on a North facing fence, and also a cheery large shrub also North facing, I thought of maybe a rhododendron? Look forward to some suggestions..... the soil is very clay by the way.

I was a Newton Abbot girl, like jackie j.

North-facing. I've got a climbing rose called Mme Albert Carrier, which is very nice. Highly scented creamy flowers for most of the year. Fatsia for the shrub (evergreen, big glossy leaves)?
