Hi,
I've been gardening for a few years now, and am slowly but surely turning our tiny (7m x 8m) back garden over to vegetables. The lawn is now relegated to a narrow path around the one flower bed, and two thirds of what was lawn is now the vegetable patch.
I grow runner and climbing beans, courgettes (green and yellow), tomatoes (lots1), lettuce, spring onions, rocket, spinach, sweetcorn and last year cucumber for the first time. I try to grow one new veg each year just for the fun of it. Last year I grew potatoes in the ground, previously I had done them in bags / pots. I got a fab harvest, but regret having done it now as they are coming up where I had planned to put the squash this year - apparently squash and potatoes don't mix - has anyone else heard of this? So now I need to rethink where everything is going to go, really annoying as I had it all planned out!!
Can I dig up potatoes that have started sprouting in the garden and put them in bags/pots - would they survive?
I have no greenhouse, and no space for one, but do have a tiny planthouse, which is currently full to bursting - am trying to get OH to help me construct a temporary planthouse using some scaffold units, an old sofa bed base, wooden battens and plastic sheeting!! Very little gets thrown out from our house before it's been checked to see if it can be recycled in any way for the garden!!
Would love to hear about other people's recycling tips.
