I have just found your forum and look forward to receiving some advice. I have a very small garden and have decided to grow some fruit and veggies. I have today bought a gooseberry bush and a raspberry bush which I intend to plant out but I am unsure as to which (if any) type of fertilizer I will need to add. The gooseberry is hinnomaki green variety and the rasps. rubus idaeus "malling promise". I'm a complete beginner and would appreciate any helpful tips. I live on the coast, and the garden is small but sheltered.

Hi Littlewin,
Welcome to The Vine!
When I planted my Goosberry and Raspberry I didn't add anything to the ground! they're doing fine and that was a year ago now.
Having said that it wouldn't hurt to add some compost and farmyard manure (the one in bags) to the hole before planting.Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!
Always aim for the best result possible not the best possible result

Hi littlewin
My nan used to have two friends called Wyn, one was called little Wyn, the other big Wyn, see if you can work out why....
Anyway, I digress.
Now that you're a member and you've posted, it's not "our" forum anymore, it's "yours" too.
I've yet to plant my raspberry canes in, hoping to do it soon, but I'll be planting them in good old commonal garden compost.
Good luck with yours.
