  • Hi from RivercottageWannabe

    Hi all

Thought it would be a good idea to join this forum, as I need all the helpful advice I can get.

At present I am growing 5 redcurrant bushes and 1 blackcurrant bush, also 10 strawberry plants. Hoping to double everything next year...and do some veg too.

off now to trawl through the posts and get some much needed help.

Well, your strawbs will more than double themselves ... they will send out runners in the summer and you can pot them all up for extra plants.

When you crop the blackcurrants, cut out the whole stem that has fruited. Pick off the fruit, and put the stem in the ground, where it will take root. I am imagine redcurrant does the same, but I've never grown one.

As for veg, get cracking ~ there's loads you can still sow now.
