Brand New Gardener from Central Scotland

Hi there,

Brand new to gardenning - was sick of looking out my window and seeing overgrown weeds! AND paying £5 for my veg box every week when i dont need to!

So, ive got part of my garden in order (the rest os dying off just now with some intensive weedkilling!), and i have planted:

- onion sets
- Lettuce transplants
- potatoes

All very small scale just now, as i just want to experient - my main goal (given i was so late in the year to get my bum in gear!) is to have it all plantable by next season!

Luckily i have my dads knowledge to hand....and now ive found this forum

Sound like a thoroughly sensible dude. I myself am too new to this stuff - apart from having bought tubs and flowers from garden centres in the past, I'd never grown anything.

Now I can't stop....

There's still time for plenty of stuff, so don't be too disheartened.

Oh, and good luck with the bike ride. I've always fancied doing something similar.

Good luck with the veg growing. Apparently I used to throw hissy fits at 4 if my dad didn't allow me plant my own vegetable patch. As I now live in the city I want to get back to growing my own spuds and cabbage

Nice to meet you, Maillme. Who needs to pay for a veg box when you can grow your own personal choice? Lots of Scottish grapes here, so there will be people to advise on things suitable for your weather conditions.
