  • Hi from one crazy wouldbe farmer

    Hi,

I am about to set out on a trip that will either make me or brake me. I've just bought 25 acres in Bulgaria and will be moving out there in the next month to start creating the place of my dreams or/and my nightmares.

I know that the climate will mean that there will be something’s on this forum that will not apply to me, but I'm also aware of the wealth of knowledge that will cross the sea.

I'm hoping to start with being self sufficient and see how far I get. The biggest thing for me is that use of modern farming equipment is a no go really, due to maintaining machinery and also theft, so I will be looking to ask those that have gone back in time to by gone days for a lot of advice on how to do things the old fashioned way.

I grew up on a farm and always wished to return to one, but with the prices in the UK being what they are, Bulgaria was obtainable.

So look out for my first question as about to post one..

Wow! Congrats on living your dream and a warm welcome to the vine! I'd love to hear more about your experiences, joys and sadnesses, successes and failures! Thats a heck of a big change in location, do you speak the local language?
    Blessings

          Take me with you!

Seriously though, what a fabulous adventure! Do let us know how you get on. I'm sure we'll all be very happy to help with any questions, if we can
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."
