  • Hello from Brighton (and Hove actually)

I'm Kay and I'm new to the forum, although I'm not a newbie gardener (I even have my own allotment blog!) I have just got an allotment share, and I'm discovering what the difference is between helping out on the allotments of chums (hard work, loads of fun, no responsibility) and having a plot of your own, even if it is shared (hard work, loads of fun, lots of responsibility and having to take into account the views of the 'real' plot holder before making any decisions). I love to grow veggies and cook like a mad person with whatever comes up. What else can I tell you?

Favourite crops: peas and broad beans

Biggest disappointment: ruby chard (tasted like spinach with mud in it)

Greatest success: growing romneya coulterii (majolica poppy) from seed

Life ambition: to create a potager

    Hi!
I lived in Brighton for 6 years. Is Henry still the allotment officer?

Nope, now we have a lovely but overworked guy called Crispin!

I think I know Crispin ... it rings a faint bell. I'm sure I met him at a Christchurch House party

He's very young, enthusiastic, rides a bicycle and wants to try and get allotments to declare themselves organic zones. I get on brilliantly with him, although he never seems to have enough time ... there are a lot of allotments and a lot of issues to deal with.
