  • I got an allotment

Having been on the waiting list for 3 + years. we have finally been given an allotment. The waiting list in this area is up to 70 people so feel kind of lucky.
The allotment is derelict, having been cleared by the community service lads - NOT!!!! so lots of hard work and advice needed

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your allotment, from what I have picked up on here, they are like gold dust.
Where are you from? Most people add that to their profile, it helps to identify everyone

I'm from worcestershire, meant to be able to grow good asparagus and plums. Think thats what we are famous for. the only thing thats growing well at the moment is weeds.

Welcome lesalou just take it a bit at a time and it wont seem so daunting, clear a bit plant something for winter and do the rest in small doses. put down weed control matting over some of it.

We well in to the clearing now, found allsorts of rubbish! but strimmed it right down and had a ball last night burning it - complete with friends, beer and fish and chips. have laid down matting over a bit. we seemed to got the biggest plot in the row due to a wonky hedge, 32ft at top and 44ft at bottom and about 90ft long, lots of hard work, blisters but loving every second.
