Hi I have just taken on an allotment 95*31 feet mainly grass some bindweed and Doc and an area of Stinging nettles, these apparently cover the area that the previous owner stored large amounts of compost which explains the large hill.
I have stated digging these out also have strimmed the allotment (started to flame gun but found I was using large amounts of parafin.).
I am now growing a very large crop odf heavy black plastic.
I am on a small site about 40 allotments in Hillingdon.
I am looking foward to getting some plants in and reaping the benifits.

Welcome. The best way to do it is a little bit at a time.
Youv'e taken the first step by covering the ground with a weed surpressant membrane.
If youv'e got nettles probably means the soil is in good health.Bonus!

The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.
