        Welcome.
I`ve only been on here for a few months but now I can`t get off!!!
It`s a great place for advice, having a natter and getting stuff off your chest.

          Hiya Sharonr!
I can see I'm gonna really enjoy this........... I'm such a gob on a stick! A bit ignorant when it comes to gardening though....... Have just moved from London into a new house with a garden and seriously got the veggie bug. Have just managed to negotiate 4 acres for rent up the road, so I'm gonna need all the help I can get!! I'm thinking livestock, veggies, bees........ can't wait!

The greatness comes not when things go always good for you,but the greatness comes when you are really tested, when you take, some knocks, some disappointments;because only if youv'e been in the deepest valley can you ever know how magnificent it is to be on the highest mountain.

With 4 acres you will be wanting dairy beasts? Goats look easy, because they aren't too big and the amount of milk is manageable, but goats have a LOT of 'personality' and that can make life uncomfortably interesting (especially for the neighbours)......
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

                    Hi all!!
Haven't been on for a little while, getting seriously carried away with the big outdoors......
Thanks for all your comments!! I'm on the Cambs / Lincs border, having moved up last December from Walthamstow, East London, a massive change for us!! It probably does seem a little mental, 4 acres when I know nothing much about gardening/livestock, but the opportunity was there, in such a good place for us, literally right over the road from our house, and it may never arise again. Had to do it.
Have got 5 ewe lambs coming, one a year old, the others younger, so am hoping to break myself in gently!! My neighbour (The lamb-lady) has said she will be on hand to help with advice and practical stuff, so feel quite relieved I am in good hands. As it happens, I have the most fantastic neighbours who don't just point and laugh when they see me doing something stupid, but gently break the news that there may be a better way of doing it - I am learning loads and have made some great friends. How lucky am I??
Am having some success in the garden - everything seems to be growing (thanks to my advisors!!) and I've already pickled beetroot and walnuts, made gallons of strawbery and raspberry jam, frozen my peas for later, and today I dug up my carrots. You would have to surgically remove this smile from my face right now!!
Right, off to put my chickens away, nice to hear from you all!!
