Hi all,
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Lisa from Nottingham. I was referred to this site from my friend, Sarah. I am a newbie to anything gardening although I have wanted to try growing my own for some time now. My mum and dad normally grow their own tomatoes, Runner and Dwarf beans and I know I wanted to try my hand at those two.
So in total, this is really what I wanted to try my hand at. Any help would greatly be appreciated on where to buy seeds cheapest for best taste, varieties, sowing times, place to put in greenhouse etc.
* Runner beans,
* Dwarf beans,
* Peas,
* Potatoes - white and new (need one of those standing pots),
* Strawberries (maybe in hanging basket),
* Lettuce (prefer Iceberg, but willing to try others that are easy/nice),
* Tomatoes,
* Carrots,
* Sweetcorn,
* Cabbage,
* Garlic,
* Cucumber,
* Pears,
* Spring Onions,
* Chili,
* Apples (we have a miniature apple tree already but it only produced 1 apple late year),
* Peppers.
--
We also wanted to do..
* Oranges,
* Pomegranate,
* Lemons,
* Grapes.
But not sure if they take that well in the UK (in a greenhouse or not??)
We do not currently have a greenhouse. However, I do have my eye on one of those mini plastic ones. It has 4 shelves and is a walk in type.
Can anyone let me know what I still have chance to do this year out of the above? I think I'm a bit too late with everything now but hoping there might be something I can still start on this year
Thanks in advance,
-Lisa
