Total noob

Hello everyone,

I only started growing stuff earlier this year and found this website a few weeks ago. Seems a friendly place and lots of useful info and as my greenhouse was delivered today I thought I'd stop being a lurker and join in.

Current inventory:
2 basil plants
6 tomato plants
1 rosemary bush
1 mint bush
1 blackcurrent bush
2 troughs of rocket
2 pots of spring onions
16 chilli plants at various stages (2 mature Apaches, four Laterns from seedlings and 10 others from seed)

Don't have much space, so other than the greenhouse it's pots & troughs on the patio or the windowsills. Greenhouse was bought from local B&Q, they were having a 15% off weekend. 373 parts which I will hopefully put together on Thursday, weather permitting! Once that's up want to get into garlic production. Any other suggestions for stuff where I can become "self sufficient" without it taking up too much space would be greatly appreciated.

How'dya guess? You must be psychic =;-)

Favourite is prawn arabiatta, so I figure if I can become self sufficient in chillies, garlic, basil & tomatoes that'd be a good thing.

Also, I've read about, but never had, chilli vodka, think that's got to be worth a try.

Hi Hotstuff. Good Luck with the greenhouse~we were lucky & aquired a readymade one that Andi just took the glass out then put the whole frame on back of a works truck!!~No fiddling about working out what goes where!
As far as garlic you'll need to wait til about October to get planting.

Thanks for that andi&di, the instructions say it will take at least 3 hours, so I figure if I get a decent start tomorrow morning I should have it finished before sunset. And regarding the garlic, yes I'd already read that on here, so I'm looking forward to a good crop next summer.
