I had moles when I lived in England and wasted money on those things you stick in the ground and buzz, the vibrations are supposed to frighten them away, useless they were.I'm sure some ones said it before but Jasper Carrot probably had the best idea!Shotgun and "blow it's bl**dy head orffff".

My Grandfather used to use 2 empty jam jars. You dig into the tunnel and put 2 jam jars into the the tunnel, lay the jars on their sides, bottom to bottom, thus leaving the two ends open for the little darlings to enter. Cover the tunnel with a sheet of plywood or anything suitable and wait for results. To check lift the wood, if there are any there my Grandfather would lift one of the jars and turn it upside down, when it fell out he would just stamp on it. I did'nt have the guts to do that though, well I was only a youngster. Cheers. Tomas.

Sonic deterrents are a waste of time and shooting them is only an option if you can see the ground moving on a fresh hill (you shoot a shotgun into the hill - the percussion of the shot is what kills the critters so you don't actually have to hit them. If you are concerned that they could become a serious problem, them look under pest control in your local Yellow Pages or local equivalent to try and locate a molecatcher. These guys are the best at what they do.

The best trap is the half barrel one. Don't try to put it in the mound of earth. Find the run between the heaps with a stick. Then cut a hole the same lengh as the trap making sure the tunnel is clear. Put a thin layer of soil over the trap to cut out any light. When the trap is sprung you will see the wire sticking up. Sometimes he will go round or under. Just move the trap and try again. You will get him in the end.
