  • Hello from erm wet Lincolnshire

I have bought the last two issues of GYO and already made my standing order so I was thrilled when I found this forum too as I was looking for 'how to grow Coleus'

I am very new to growing anything other than a carrot top in water, but since March (when my greenhouse went up) I have been having the time of my life and even realised that the nettles at the bottom of my garden that I have been fighting with for years are now my best friend, great tea, great to eat and great as a hair conditioner (they are now staying in moderation!!)

I have a variety of things going on in my greenhouse at the moment, some herbs, tomatoes, chillies (cat ate them so had to brought in - not looking well ) cacti and some other bits and bats.
I am wanting to use the land at the bottom of my garden to grow veg for next season but first to tackle some of them nettles

We have also started to keep chickens earlier in the year and now enjoying the first of our fresh eggs which are by far the creamiest I have ever had before!!

Looking forward to the next growing season and my ripening tomatoes this year ... ho, and learning as much as I can from those of you whom know in the meantime!

Just to explain my aviator, went into the greenhouse the other day and found Mr Toad sitting in my cacti pots resting his little arm there as if he was sat in a comfy armchair. He later went on his way ... hopefully without a cati spike up his bottom!!!

It has persisted down all day, just got heavier as the day wore on. Good thing there's plenty to read on here!

Hello and welcome Traci, from another soggy resident of Lincolnshire
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

I have a fairly large frog that seams to have taken up home in my flowerpot 'storage' corner. The other day I thought I'd scared it off raking through the pots as it went under the fence to next door, but it was back again this afternoon ... Giving me ideas for a pond too I feel.
We are over run with toads too!
But on the bright side as you say, at least all the water butts are filling

I'd love a little pond in our garden; even left some space for one when I planned the garden out; but seeing as we are right next to a canal my OH's argument is that we have an inbuilt water feature...plus as the gardens are 'allotment style' - I wouldn't feel safe in case any visiting kids to other gardens wandered in.
