Hello from Holland

Hi folks
I`m new to the board and already hooked! It`s raining here or I should be out gardening. I`m from Nottingham and married a Dutchman 3 years ago. We live with our puss called Harry who is a keen gardening assistant. The gardens here at the front are usually quite small (due to the lack of space....small country) but our back garden is ample enough with afairly big lawn, plenty of shrubs, plants and pots. I`m always in trouble for bringing yet MORE plants but I`m able to live with that!!

I am also in Holland, a little North of you though, near Alkmaar, the cheese city, in say city loosely! ha ha ha
Also English but with English Partner. Been here 8 years! It was only meant to be 2!!!
This forum is great. Maybe we can share Dutch suppliers! I am having a problem finding seed potatoes. The varieties available are small. I think they call them pootaardapelen. Also have found the selection of seed etc in the tuincentrum poor! Mostly order seed from UK but postage is very reasonable.

hi Sandra hoe gaat het? Thanks for your reply. I`m not into tatties yet but maybe I could look out for seed pots here. I find it strange that you cant get supplies, the Dutch being massive potatoe eaters!! The biggest place near to where I live is Terneuzen. I will look on the map where you are.

All i have found is this site, Biologisch Pootgoed
I am sure there must be more available! They do like their spuds! I managed to get Desiree at a local tuincentrum at the beginning of this year, but that was all they had! I guess thats better than the year before when they had none!!!!! I would like some for christmas and some earlies for next year. Maybe i will just order some from here and see what they are like.
There is also Bakker.nl But have had a few problems with them so be careful!
You are really in the south, how far from the Belgium border are you? I think i have some link in my bookmarks somewhere about an excellant kruiden tuincentrum in the south i will see if i can find it.

we are only 10 kilometres from beguim. What`s it like where youlive? Busy or quite? Its really quite here. Only 9000 live here. It`s nice to visit the big places like Amsterdam etc but it sure feels good to get home!! Mind you I think its me age!ha! Where did you live in England? Good luck with the tatties!! Sam says there are places round here to buy seed pots.
