Hi from Witham in Essex. We took over a disaster zone called an allotment!! Took three people to clear it before anything else, but we have had some veg off it this year. Not totally successful but not too bad. It's only a small plot, about half size but enough for us considering we are pensioners. Cost isn't drastic either. Will be looking for advice as time goes on as this soil is very heavy clay!! Never mind, we will get there.

you'll be digging in lots of compost/well rotted manure then, to improve your drainage?

The clay will be really fertile once you've made it easier to use (as Two Sheds suggests).
What have you grown this year? It's been a pretty wet year for your first lottie venture, fingers crossed for a better one next year!

Hi Cassie and welcome. Every year is a bit of an off-year for something! It's too wet, too dry (well, we can hope!) or there's a late frost or something. But on the bright side there's always something that likes it like that!
