  • So many questions !!!!!!

    Hi everyone

I am totally new to this grow your own but now I have started I am totally addicted. I have a very small garden so everything I have grown is in pots, so far tomatoes, chillies, peppers, lettace and cucumbers.

Cucumbers and lettace have been a great and are still growing. My tomatoes are all still green although I think a few are now turning a pale greeny pink colour. My peppers and chillies are all still green although I have now noticed some are growing already red, is this normal ????

It would be great to talk to someone who is a pot grower so I can find out what is best to grow in pots, was thinking of trying sweetcorn, peas and butternut squash next year but dont know how they will take to pots, anyone know ?

Also is there anything i can grow in the winter months ?

Thanks for taking time to read my 1st post.

Hello and Well done. Sounds like your doing ok so far. I too am new and can't wait to get going nxt Spring but over winter I'm attempting onions and garlics, not sure what i will get. And one of the others may be going to try peas.
Somedays your up, somedays your down, but you have to make the best of everything

I have just planted a load of peas as a winter experiment. 25cm terracotta pots 15 seeds apiece. Most things will be happy in pots. We used to grow runner beans in pots, so long as there is enough room for the roots and nothing is left to dry out ( fat chance in the UK) you should be fine. As a general rule, look at the distance between rows and seeds on the pack, big plants need more space!
          Good luck.

            Hi

Thanks for the reply I got home last night to find one of my tomatoe plants has gone very dark brown on all the stems and the tomatoes look like they are turning a brown colour, do you know if this is due to all the damp weather or maybe blight ?
