  • Hello, I'm new.

Hi, just wanted to introduce myself, i'm a keen gardener and I live in Warrington. I have a small but productive allotment in my back garden. I have lots of questions to ask you all as I'm still learning. And maybe I can give others some help too.

Hi and welcome. Advice aplenty here - given and taken. It's a really friendly community.

Hello all, Sorry been busy in the garden we're extending beds and laying new paths ready for next year. Had a load of new top soil delivered and it all needs to be moved to it's new home! In my garden this year we have grown broad beans, peas and runners (which are still going) Courgettes only 3 plants but I'm still picking. Onions but the red's didn't do very well this year. Potatoes, carrots, swedes, turnips, parsnips, cabbages and cauliflowers, we have all sproutings and Kale, Sprouts which are a little slow but hopefully will produce goods buds for Christmas. Oh and Beetroot, Globe Artichoke ( 1st Year) Jeruselum Artichokes, not tasted these yet thou. We did khol rabi but the slugs got to these. We've had tomatoes nad have still got peppers and chillis (3rd attempt and well rewarded this year) We have all kinds of fruit. Raspberry, Loganberry, blackberry, gooseberry and strawberry. Black, white and Red currants. Blueberry and Rhubarb.

Hi and welcome to the vine. Your garden sounds like a more organised and successful version of ours - we have tried to grow similar stuff but I think the slugs or something ate most of it this year.

                      Gawd!

Little wonder you picked the moniker "Goodlife".

Sorry, I'm off to have a little think about Felicity Kendal now, see what you've started.

                      Oops sorry, WELCOME

Goodlife, welcome to the vine, as another person who has only joined quite recently I can say that the folks on here are very helpful & friendly. My cousin has a smallholding close to Warrington, nice part of the country.

@Stacey Steve, know what you mean about Felicity Kendal caught an episode on TV earlier today.

                            Hi Mike

Apparently California is the hot spot for Pluots...I've not encountered one but I think they might need more heat than I can give here in the UK.

I might mention it to the Brother in Law, who live in Florida as well...

Welcome to the Vine though...there might be an expert along with more advice soon.

I chose Goodlife for that reason! We live in the corner of a housing estate: believe it or not. We chose the house because the garden was big! All our freinds and relatives say we live the goodlife! just short of a few pigs and chickens. Unfortunately not that big a garden and I'm sure the neighbours would have something to say!! Everyone says the children grow taller each time they see them because of all the manure they stand in when helping in the garden.

Happy gardening, weather holding out nicely here in the north west!
