  • A big hello from Essex

Hello everyone, I have been lurking on the site for some time, but I thought is best that I registered and joined in the fun.

I am new to growing my own, just built some raised beds in the garden ready for next year. Although I am going some overwintering onions and garlic.

Also, just got myself a composting bin.

Hi skinnybean - this site is great, I have been reading loads on here, and hopefully I will get a good crop next year. I would love to have an allotment too, but at the moment there are none in my local area.

Sounds like you have made a good start. Raised beds, compost bin, onions and garlic; perfect.

Mersea Island is a pretty unique place, it does seem to have it own weather too.

I was born in Essex and used to own a compost bin, a Ford Cortina.

Used to dig it out for special occassions
I am certain that the day my boat comes in, I'll be at the airport.

Hello, and a big welcome to more Essex bods!

We occasionally visit Mersea when collecting Land Rover spares from RST, and I usually stock up on Veg from the guy who runs the little stall down the road - He's very reasonable, and his produce is lovely!

Although, next year, I won't need to buy so much, coz hopefully I'll be growing my own.

Anyway, good luck with your Veg growing, and welcome to the vine.

                        Regards,
                        G4

At the moment, I buy my veg from Bonners Barn - just on the mainland side of the island. He gets most of his veg locally, which I like to support.

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
