  • New 'un from N Wales

    Greetings all.

My name is Jeff, I live in Buckley and I am new to all this. I have grown Tomatos for many years in my greenhouse but never tried any crops as my garden used to be the builders yard when my estate was built. I only have to dig down a couple of inches to find hardened bags of cement, breeze blocks and bricks. It if only fit for lawns. However, I am now in the process of building 4 raised veg beds, 2 of which are completed. I have sourced some free horse muck and I am currently looking for some good topsoil. I hope all will be finished within 2 weeks and then I am ready to go.

Thank you very much on your kind offer of the horse muck, I may well take you up on that as I intend to put a good layer in the bottom of my beds when they are finished. I am off for the next 4 days, then in work for 4 shifts and then I am off for 18 days so if the weather holds I should be able to finish them.

Would it be ok if I give you a shout when I am ready please.

Hi and welcome! As people have said, it's a great place for a chin-wag when you can't get out to garden!

Thanks again for the muck offer but the topsoil I managed to get is some really good rich stuff so I wont need any just yet.

                  Planted some Broad Beans yesterday.
