  • Hello from Central Scotland!

    Hi,

Just joined the forum the other day and now found that there is a welcome bit!

This seems like a great forum, loads of information about absoloutely everything you need to know about growing veg! I'm impressed!

Looking forward to beginning of next year when I can get my new vegetable plot planted up, just hope the plants survive the colder weather up here!

Hello from Ayrshire Give you a warning the seed swap is highly addictive! (well it is for me) Hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Welcome to the Vine Jenegade, I don't think you'll have to worry about the weather. I'm in Perthshire and manage fine. Here's some of this years growings. I've no green house.

        Wow!! Thats some impressive produce!

I don't have a greenhouse either, have a bay window that I'll be using instead!

When do you start planting out veg up here? I thought I should start a little bit later than the seed packets say.

            Hi Jenegade
And welcome to another grape from North of the Border. As you will find out, this forum can become quite addictive.
As far as your query re sowing and planting out dates, we do tend to be a couple of weeks later than our more southerly brothers and sisters, but given that we get longer daylight hours, everything kinda balances out over the season.
            Have fun.

Hi there - I've just joined the site too. Have been growing things in the Lothians for a few years - still a beginner. When I look at seed packets I just tend towards the later of the dates given and usually do OK. But last summer I bought bean plantlets and they did much better. I'm hoping to get things going a bit better with the new lean-to - I expect your bay window will come very much in handy too!
I take it from your pic you like the mountains?
