  • Hello if you will have me.

Hello everyone, I don't want to say that I have been watching you cos that makes me sound sinister ( which I am not ) but I have been here a bit and I have followed some recipes and found them excellent, and watched you all talk and you all seem to be the greatest of freinds and I wanted to ask if I can play too ??

I have gardened off and on all my life, at the mo have a garden that is mostly wild area's, pond and flowerbeds but I have just taken up a sizable hunk of lawn to make a veg bed in. In other years I have had veggies in pots outside the greenhouse but Hubs and me feel its time to grow veg on a bigger scale, and I have the strangest urge to grow winter squashes.

The only thing is I don't have an allotment and at the moment I can't afford to buy the Grow Your Own magazine so do I qualify to join you ??
And will you have me ??
    Fingers, toes & eyes crossed.
    Izi.

    Welcome Izi
More than welcome here, I have no lottie, just a large garden 50' x 220' and now the kids are grown up we have decided to turn the bottom 120' into veg growing 4 12' x 4' raised beds already in and a polytunnel to come. I was made redundant last Monday and I am now concentrating on veg growing full time, I will look forward to your progress.

Hi, course you can join in, so long as you don't go getting 'normal' on us! I love squashes too but my veggie patch is in the garden and I haven't got room at the moment (why have I put 5 different types on my christmas list?).
          Welcome!

Welcome Izi - I can't afford to buy GYO either (I nick my Mum's copy)
(I get Gardeners World through the door, because Tesco Club Card points meant I got it for a year for free; perhaps GYO could do a similar deal?)

Winter squashes are brilliant... I grow them for their amazing colour and shape, but find I can't possibly eat them all.
(my butternuts have now rotted in the shed, so that's a bit of a relief actually - only 6 Mars pumpkins and 7 smaller Golden Nuggets to get through now)

                      Welcome.

I buy GYO occasionally...but am as tight as a snadger's clamp...so only buy it when it's got stuff in there that I need to read.

I read the boards for a while before I dared to post too There are lots of peeps on here who just grow in containers, or plots in their garden - it's what I did before I got to the top of the allotment queue
