  • New to this forum but not growing!

I am probably going to be the most boring member in the world ever!

I used to have an allotment but had to give it up because of work commitments! Now I grow my veg. in my Mum's garden in pots.

Hopefully some kind soles out there will be able to advise me on what works better in tubs as I am used to growing in the ground.

    Welcome shell

We have lots of container gardeners on here. I started off in containers and in my first year grew onions, carrots, purple sprouting broccolli, courgettes, cucumbers, loads of herbs and salads and about 120 tomato plants that I picked up from someone on freecycle who told me there were about 20 seedlings in the tray and it turned out there were 165 [I gave the rest to friends at work].

Perhaps let us know what you want to grow and we'll try and give you suggestions as to how to grow it in pots.

Hi shell and welcome to the vine! You are effectively 'downsizing' then! Good luck with your veg in pots!

Welcome to the 'Vine Shell I started off growing in pots too, you can get some good crops - apart from tomatoes & peppers/chillis I think my best crops came from peas & beans.

Hello and welcome to the vine.

You can grow all sorts in pots and buckets - there are lots of threads on here if you search about a bit.
                  Happy Gardening,

Didn't really think of it as downsizing but I guess you're right! At least I won't have to do all that spade work! But I'll miss the space I had for my plum and damson trees.
