Hi i have just properly joined the forum, got my half plot in September and have spent from then until now clearing it. Can't wait to start growing things other than nettles and weeds, seems you pull up one two grow back! Really enjoying reading all your blogs etc, looking forward to picking up lots of good tips re my veggies. You are a very supportive group and it is loverly to see how you have rallied round and looked after each other, good to see that there are good folk out there looking out for one another.

Hi Miffy - I joined up last night - although have been reading online for a while now.. Have had my plot since 2007 but did not really get planting til summer 2008 as my plot was soooo overgrown and is a double plot.( also adopted two rescue dogs- who were quite a distraction!) . Have managed to move forward quite a way now as a willing victim joined me in the summer.Which is a good job as the Lottie got so popular last year there are few if any spare plots now , so the pressure is on to keep up the progress.
Can't wait for the weather to get better as now have a few large beds to get stuff into Planning lots of relaxed evenings down at the plot (as well as the hard work) as I have no garden at home...
Up in North Yorks though so need to keep a hold on my enthusiasm until the weather warms up.
Anyhow - great to be on board now as sharing tips and ideas this way is a fab way of keeping motivated...I wish you lots of success in your plot and look forward to reading about your progress and sharing mine hopefully !

Hi Glutton -Thanks for the welcome , guessing the weather still chilly down by yourself ? Will be interesting to see how the regional differences pan out as I know I am in danger of rushing to plant out ,but need to remember how far North I am.Do not want to fall into the same trap with out being totally ready this year
Great to see the days getting longer though ... really noticed it today.

Glad you and Denise took the plunge. You'll see from the posts that we often ask each other daft questions. No-one know ALL of it - gardening is such a HUGE subject. What I'm saying is, we've still got our L plates on too - we just put an anorak over them!

Great to hear from you all and to be so kindly welcomed particularly this week as I have been off work and feeling miserable with a cold. Have been coming on to the forum for a while and lurking like so many others ! But with my allotment finally almost fully cleared am aiming to get a good mix of flowers/ shrubs alongside lots of veg' this year. Looking forward to getting lots of advice and encouragement and offering the same to others. Here's to a dry 2009 !

Nice to meet you both. It's funny but so many of the newbie's on here are saying the same sort of thing! i.e. have been reading for a while before joining, what a great bunch of people there are on here! lol I hear echoes of myself back in September when I joined! Well so many of us have said the same and yes it is true there are some great people on here and the vine is packed full of good advice and fun chit chat as well!
