  • A Newbie here!!

    Hello
My name is Carolyn, I live on the Blackwater Estuary nr Maldon Essex. We have a very small garden which faces north and have been struggling to work out what can grow in the limited areas which do get light & sun. My best mistake last year was planting raspberry canes in front of some shrubs and now they are leaning out and upwards to find the light bless them!!!

I stumbled across the Grow your Own magazine in a reduced section on a market stall today and liked what I saw and am now here!

I hope to learn a great deal through the website and the forum, and hope I can produce some produce this year that doesn't grow long and lanky due to alck of light. I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has this hurdle with a north facing garden and small at that!!

    Buy for now
    Carolyn

salad crops don't mind abit of shade stops them bolting but they do need some light and warmth, or you could grow stuff in pots on the front if you can't dig it up. Enjoy the website everyone is really friendly.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown
