Hi to everyone

I thought it was time I popped in to say hello. I have been a bit on the fringe of things for a while, but have enjoyed reading the forum and following different topics. I find it is a great source of information and I love the passion and generosity of the members.

I live in South Wales, which at the moment, is raining and misty. Roll on summer-as long as we get one this year! Anyway I'm hopeful it will be good.

I feel lucky to have a large enough garden to let me have space to grow fruit and veggies, also a bit of room for a few chooks. I try and grow as much as I can to keep me going year round. This is helped by having a polytunnel in extending the season. Any surplus I am lucky enough to get in the summer/autumn goes into pickles chutneys etc, the freezer, shared with friends or the chickens!

I guess I just wanted to say a big thank you to all who post on the forum for giving me many hours of enjoyment

Lucky you having a Polytunnel. I'd like one because it would (I think) give me much more growing space for less money than a greenhouse but suspect it would get blown away.

big leeks , like my father used to - unfortunatley he did`nt leave me any secret formulas

Nicos, your question seemed really simple at first, then my mouth started to water in anticipation! I love the whole start up of the season, nurturing seedlings and watching them grow into hopefully productive plants, it never ceases to amaze me. In particular I love the first new potatoes of the year, I always look forward to growing them. Cherry toms by the handful, peas that never quite get into the saucepan yum. Runner beans double yum. List goes on. Oh and I am really hoping this will be my year for melons!

BilboWaggins, I'm in love with my PT, my garden has quite a layer of heavy soil/clay under the surface and is slow to get started in spring, so this has been a worthwhile investment for me. The Garden is quite exposed but PT's stand up to a surprising level of wind, so don't let that put you off. Loved your blog, great photos.

Hi Geordie good luck with your leeks, I think you will have more luck with tips if you ask on main forum as mine tend to be average size.
